It is an honor to be appointed as your Civil Air Patrol, California Wing, Group 8 Commander. Every day that I work alongside you, I find treasures of talent, positivity, and enthusiasm dedicated to serve our community. What an honor!

From the early stages, beginning in 1938, to the official formation on December 8, 1941, Civil Air Patrol has continued to emerge and evolve into a dependable, skilled, civilian-led organization providing value and service to our community, state, and nation. Civil Air Patrol is no longer the best-kept secret. Young people to adults from all walks of life and cultures are joining us today to participate in the amazing opportunity of "supporting America’s communities with emergency response, diverse aviation and ground services, youth development, and promotion of air, space, and cyber power." We are now over 66,160 members strong nationwide with 3,605 members in California Wing and 321members in Group 8. Group 8 includes both San Diego County and Imperial County. We are one of the most active Groups in California and lead the way in emergency service, cadet program, and aerospace program opportunities.

When new members join, they find value and purpose by serving their community in a rich environment of readiness for emergency response. Together, we build trust and belonging as we move forward, learning new skills, techniques, and solutions to skillfully and safely complete our missions.
